Tucked just south of the tourist bustle of Branson, U.S. Highway 65 Business offers a short but memorable drive through Hollister, Missouri. This 4-mile stretch combines scenic lake views, historic architecture, and a peek into the unique character of a town that proudly wears its Old English charm. The route begins at the busy roundabout that connects Missouri Highway 76, Branson Landing Boulevard, and Lake Road (US-65B) — just a stone’s throw across Lake Taneycomo from downtown Branson.
Turning southwest onto US-65 Business, we follow what’s also signed as Lake Road toward Hollister proper. Almost immediately, the road transitions from a lakeside feeder route into a more defined urban corridor. At the junction with Missouri Route BB, we continue straight as the road becomes Main Street — the historic backbone of Hollister. Soon after, we cross Turkey Creek via a modest bridge and enter one of the more architecturally distinct downtowns in the Ozarks. With its faux-Tudor façades and stylized stonework, Hollister’s business district is a deliberate nod to an Old English village, a quirk that has become one of its most photographed features.
Looping south through this charming commercial core, US-65B curves around the heart of downtown before shifting westward. The road soon passes over U.S. Highway 65 via an overerpass that connects the town’s east and west sides. Beyond the highway, the route takes one final southwest jog and comes to an end at the intersection with Taney County Highway 165, not far from where the video on this route concludes. From here, drivers can continue west on 165 toward Branson’s southern loop or head back east to reconnect with the main highway system.
Although short, this segment of U.S. 65 Business offers a scenic and cultural counterpoint to the high-energy attractions of Branson. Whether you’re in it for the architecture, the lake views, or just looking for a quieter way around the city, Main Street Hollister provides a slice of small-town character that’s increasingly rare along U.S. highways.
