Traskwood Road: Glen Rose to Traskwood – Arkansas

Leaving the small community of Glen Rose behind, we begin our drive eastward along Traskwood Road, a rural connector in southern Saline County. The journey starts at the intersection with U.S. Route 67, just a stone’s throw from the Glen Rose School. As we head east, the road gently meanders through rolling terrain that alternates between wooded patches and open fields, offering a peaceful transition from the bustle of the highway to the quiet of the countryside.

Traskwood Road isn’t a major thoroughfare, but it’s a vital link between the communities of Glen Rose and Traskwood. Along the route, you’ll encounter pastoral scenes characteristic of central Arkansas — farmhouses tucked beneath tall trees, stretches of pastureland dotted with cattle, and the occasional glint of metal from distant grain silos or equipment sheds. This five-mile segment is lightly traveled, making it a pleasant route for a scenic detour or a more relaxed local drive. It’s also a great alternative to busier nearby routes if you’re heading to western Saline County or exploring the backroads around the Ouachita Mountains.

As we approach Traskwood, the landscape becomes a bit more residential, signaling the edge of town. The drive concludes at the intersection with Arkansas Highway 229, a north-south route that connects Traskwood to larger highways like Interstate 30 and U.S. Route 270. From here, travelers can head north to Benton or south toward Leola and other rural destinations. Though short, this segment of Traskwood Road offers a snapshot of life in small-town Arkansas — unhurried, scenic, and grounded in the rhythms of the land.
